The Monahans SandDunes Elopement
In April of 2022, My cat Leo and I started our drive to Big Bend, Texas from Michigan. We went out for a styled elopement. On the way home, I had an engagement shoot with the cutest couple at the Monahans SandDunes for prior to sunset.
The couple had two outfits, and we took our time getting the most stunning photos, but during the end, I started noticing a newly wed walking around with a photographer. This newly wed was gorgeous! Soooo, what did I do? My typical thing. I walked up while my couple was changing outfits, and I asked if the photographer if she would ever so mind if I just snapped a few photos. I quickly introduced myself as SovaPortrait traveling from Michigan! She said “I’m in the middle of a session” and gave me the funniest look! Lol I haven’t had a situation gone that awkward before. She then said maybe I can talk to the couple after she was done and ask. So I respected that, quickly said hi to the couple in passing and left.
After she was done and my couple was finished, I noticed the newly wed changing into their clothes getting ready to leave. So I QUICKLY ran down the sandhill, ran up to them and re explained EVERYTHING and showed them my work. They were super sweet and agreed to take photos no problem! They started noticing the other photographer driving in her car and I assured them that photographer gave me permission to ask them after she left (which was true).
THEN dealing with the park ranger police man who kept coming back up to us, making everything even more uncomfortable for me who just wanted some beautiful photos! LOL. Why was this getting so hard!
But okay, finally I got the couple on the hill and we got the BEST photos! Oh, I don’t even care the trouble I went through, and I would do it all over again! This couple was DELIGHTED when they received the photos and my entire day was made from this! Photography is what I am here to do, and I am very blessed for each opportunity that comes my way in this journey!
